CBSSports.com College Network and our partners had a fantastic first quarter of 2012, both on the court and with regard to exciting new content, products and services. We crowned many national champions, featured unprecedented and robust Signing Day content, syndicated partner content throughout CBS channels and, as always, produced cutting-edge new site designs.
This month, we are securing commitments for our 2012-13 iPhone, iPad and Android apps. This fall, our highly rated Silver Chalice apps will feature live video that will accompany existing live audio, stats, scores, on-demand highlights, and more. If you would like more information about our mobile apps, please contact your University Relations representative immediately.
I hope you enjoy this issue of our newsletter. We appreciate your continued support.
Men's Basketball National Championship Coverage:
Kentucky's celebration video was promoted on the homepage programming box and the College Basketball Arena programming box.
On average, All-Access videos promoted on CBSSports.com generated an additional 69 views per clip for our partners in Q1.
New Ad Units
We have now implemented 300x600 ad calls on interior pages of 54 partner sites. When the 300x600 unit is unsold, a 300x250 ad will run instead. Additionally, as your site is up for a redesign, we can swap the 728x90 ad space for a 970x66 unit.

Signing Day Recap
From both a traffic and production standpoint, Signing Day 2012 was a big success for CBSSports.com College Network and our partners.
On the traffic front, we set new Signing Day records in three key metrics - Unique Browsers, User Sessions and Frequency (the average number of times a Unique Browser returns to a site during the reporting period). Compared to 2011, we saw a minimal decline in Page Impressions, Average Page Impressions/User Session and Average User Session Duration. We have seen a consistent decline over the years in the Average Page Impressions/User Session, likely due to the absence of auto-refreshing national hoops scoreboards (CSTV.com, NCAA.com) and less use of an auto-refresh on OAS pages.
Our 2012 Page Impression, Unique Browser and User Session numbers smashed the averages for 2005-2011, each topping the average by more than 25%.
From production, CBS assisted partners with tasks such as creating and updating Signing Day Central, posting Signing Day releases, creating and delivering promotional material (ads, mailers), implementing a Signing Day sponsorship, integrating content on CBSSports.com, MaxPreps.com and SmartFolks, uploading photos and video, updating flash players, creating bios, creating original content and much more. Everyone did a fantastic job of preparing, responding and delivering to the benefit of your fans.
March Madness Recap
2012 marked the second time in company history that every men's and women's Final Four team was a member of the CBSSports.com College Network. The first instance was in 2009. Four times we have had all four of the men's Final Four teams (2012, 2009, 2008 and 2005), as well as four times with the women's Final Four (2012, 2011, 2010 and 2009).
The 2012 men's field of 68 featured 36 OAS partners, including 19 schools seeded sixth or higher. We also ended up with three of the number one seeds, three of the number two seeds, and all of the number three and four seeds. Congratulations to the Kentucky Wildcats on their eighth title. The Cats' win gave CBS its ninth men's champion since we opened our doors in the fall of 1996.
The women's field of 64 featured 32 OAS partners. All four number one seeds and 13 of the top 16 seeds were OAS partners. Baylor's historic title was the school's second and CBS' ninth women's champion in company history, including the sixth in the last seven years. Congrats, Lady Bears!
With the introduction of Digital Networks in recent months by a few of our partners, CBSSports.com College Network would like to provide you with more information on the product in the event your institution is interested in implementing a Digital Network of your own.
The Digital Network is more than just a rebrand of your audio/video product from "all-access" to a new name. Having an expanded presence in this landscape will help deepen your fan, alumni and prospective student-athlete relationships, boost your brand name and generate incremental revenue through new subscribers.
Click here to read more about how a Digital Network differs from your traditional all-access product, including new features such as preservation. Extra information on preservation from our vendor, Thought Equity, can be viewed here. The preservation of your archived and historical content is not required to launch a Digital Network, but can enhance the offering for your fans.
Contact your University Relations representative for more information.
CBSSports.com College Network can provide your school with a video-based microsite solution. These custom microsites can enhance your fans' official athletic site experience or highlight a specific athletic program.
CBS' production and design team will build a microsite (such as ECU Football, NIU Football, Brittney Griner and LeSean McCoy), but now with the option for custom video integration from a digital media/video specialist. This video company, All Sports Digital Media, works with CBSSports.com to provide video from NFL games, the Super Bowl, BCS, and the Final Four to name a few events. They also have worked with some of our school partners to create video board intros.
